Revenge of Spidey

7 June, 2008 at 8:34 pm (Uni pics) (, , , , , , )

Told you there’s gonna be a second part to this heh.

After what happened that day I started noticing this how many spiders there really was in the bathroom, its vicinity and to a certain extent the whole apartment. There really is a huge congregation of spiders there, I mean all you need to do is look up at the ceiling and you could easily be looking at 20 to 30 of those arachnids. Them eight legged web weavers ranged in size from and small as your nose poop to some as big as erm… several nose poops lumped together.

Hence, armed with my trusty Olympus I set out to snap more photos of them creepy crawlies but this time with better lighting. I snapped these pics near the veranda by the way.

With insects as big as this, is it a wonder why we have such a bg population of spiders? I guess not. Notice the nice green sheen on its body.

Sleeping mosquito. Seriously it was really sleeping! I placed my finger as near to it as possible and…

Squashed it! See told you it was sleeping. And mosquitoes (together with cocroaches) are the only things I wouldn’t mind killing. Wouldn’t wanna get dengue or malaria you see.

Ah, finally. The main star of the day. The itsy bitsy spider. Let’s take a closer look shall we? Hehe, but a bit of warning first. CONTINUE ONLY IF YOU’RE NOT SCARED OF EIGHT HAIRY LEGGED INSECTS CRAWLING ON YOUR SCREEN!

The legs almost as hairy as mine, except theirs were straight and spiky whilst mine are curly haha!

Stupid spider wouldn’t stay still for the photoshoot!

Gone back hiding in his web/nest or something.

Damn, blur shot cause it kept moving. Those are the toilet’s lamp at the background by the way. Since these buggers were way up near the ceilling I was perched on a chair and sticking my arm out so my camera can get as close to the subject as possible. Not an easy task especially when the camera’s auto focus doesn’t work well in low light condition.

I’m actually quite pleased that my FE managed to focus ON the spider instead of the shrubs in front. Like this shot a lot. Imagine blowing this pic up to maximum resolution and printing a poster sized pic out of it and hang it in front of your ‘best friend’ who happens to have a phobia towards spiders. I bet your ass he’s gonna end up with a seizure and start frothing at the mouth upon looking at the lurking spider haha!

This could be my best and most favorite macro so far. Some of the things I think I can improve with this pic is reduction of noise and a higher ISO perhaps? And also a bigger F number perhaps? Or is it smaller? I don’t know, I go by instinct when it comes to photography. But those are certainly the limitations of my camera. Nontheless this pic goes to show how much you can get from your regular Point and Shoot if you’re willing to push it to its limit.

Nice ass!

So kawan, has this post help you to curb that fear of creepy crawlies of yours? I hope it does though hehehe….

Bugger!

30 May, 2008 at 2:10 pm (Uncategorized, Uni pics) (, , , , , , )

Well I’ve left uni for about 2 weeks now so I guess it’s only fair if I dedicate some posts and publish pictures I took to the place I spend almost four years of my life there. Ok maybe not four years if you minus out the 6 months I took to do my internship. But then again there’s also the mid semester break and long holidays that should have been subtracted so all in all I’ve probably only spend about 2 and a half year in uni. Why a I so anal? Moving on…

So , a couple of months ago(can’t determine the exact time nor whether it was before I got quarantined or after) I went to the toilet. Some of you might snicker and say “BrawHAHA, what’s the big deal? People go to the loo everyday.” Yes smartass you’re right but do you see this every time you go and answer nature’s most desperate call?:

.

.

Look closely la…

.

.

Btw, why do they say answering nature’s call when you gotta go pee or shit? I just don’t get it with all these colloquial terms. And did nature use 3G when calling you? And which telco did nature use, Maxis, Celcom or Digi? Haha god I’m funny.

Anyway upon seeing that spider in the middle of the toilet cubicle my first thought wasn’t to whack it away so I can sit on the throne but I went to get the camera instead. At this point I have totally forgotten the pain in my nuts that were screaming to relief themselves cause I feel the need to do some low light photography.

.

.

I turned on the flash to see what I’ll get:

.

.

.

The results weren’t that fantastic. At this point, a stupid bug fell onto the spider’s web creating a perfect scene for me to capture more interesting shots. Bare in mind that in this toilet there were no windows and the lighting was very very poor, depending heavily on fluorescent lamps and whatever little natural light that can get into this secluded area. Also, I need to emphasis this – I USED MY EL-CHEAPO OLYMPUS FE-110 to get these shots. The same camera I used for all the shots in this site which by the way cuts off the flash in super macro mode (bummer) and with the highest res at 5M pixel really is nothing to shout about.

.

Evidently without flash there were noticeable noise but at an acceptable level (my camera maxes out at ISO-400). Super steady hands are needed to capture these shots in these conditions. At this point I also realized how sucky the auto focus is on my FE, sometimes I need to refocus and reposition several times just to get a good shot.

I have a feeling that somehow this asshole of a spider detected the presence of my camera either through its 8 eyes or it can sense the electromagnetic/Infra red wave emitted from the cam/lense and will try its best to stay away. This includes a lot of moving around and wriggling to get away from the lense. Argh! I was so mad that if it wasn’t because the spider’s the main subject of this photo shoot I would have swat it into the toilet bowl and flush it down! Hah! Take that you stupid spider, see if you can still sing that stupid Itsy Bitsy Spider song or not? Muahahahahaha!

In case you’re wondering how small the spider was, here’s a comparison with my finger:

.

.

For comparison purpose only. I wasn’t fantasizing that this spider was exposed to radiation and that one bite from it would turn me into a web slinging super hero over night. Seriously I wasn’t.

Of course, I’ve saved the best shot for last. Here’s a warning though: Strictly not for people with arachnophobia/ fear of spiders. The author will not be responsible or any injuries physical or mental that could lead to spasm and uncontrollable frothing at the mouth. Ok now that you’ve been warned:

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Look at the indivual hair strands. Creepy isn’t it? There’s actually a second part this spider shooting session. But that is for another time…

And as usual, after I’m done shooting this is what I did:

.

Nuisance…

Hey, I still need to relieve my self incase you’ve forgotten!

p/s: Haha I know you hate creepy crawlers my dear Kawan, so take this post as a way to reduce that fear. Stare at those pics…. one by one…. hehahahaha! But who could blame you eh especially when that beetle landed there *ehem hahaha!

My 1st Malaysia-Singapore Collaboration

17 May, 2008 at 2:43 pm (Misc pics, Mumblings, Scenery, Uni pics) (, , , , , , , , , )

About a week ago some of my pictures were featured in an art/photography assignment from a friend of mine all the way from Singapore. She had asked to feature some of my works in this assignment of her and me being the gracious(ehem!) person that I am (haha) gladly obliged. Here’s the resulting work:

.

.

Four of my pictures were featured. Here they are in the original versions and you can click them it’s accompanying post:

.

.

.

.

Personally, my most favorite photo (apart from mine haha!) would be the top most center one, a good and sharp macro shoot for the railings and ending with a blurred out background. That picture shows a great form of perspective photography with nice contrast and lighting. Not bad at all considering it was taken with a P & S camera, just like all the other pics. And my other favorite would be the candy love sign pic at the top right corner. Can’t believe those candies actually fell on the ground and formed a heart shape accidentally!

And coincidentally, the main focus of this work would be the bigger ‘Candy’ pic on the right…. hmmm I smell Da Vinci Code conspiracy here hehehe. I mean the just above the Candy pic is a pic of the heart shape candies. Now you tell me, is this a sign or what? Hahahaha!

Personally, I am quite flattered and proud (a bit) that my photos were featured in a dear friend’s assignment. Yes I know they aren’t going to an art gallery(yet!) but somehow having my pics helping a dear friend of mine meant a lot to me. Oh ya, another perk is I get free promotion for my site hehe!

AND WHO SAID MALAYSIA AND SINGAPORE CAN’T WORK TOGETHER?
Maybe our government don’t see eye to eye but our people sure have lots of love for each other don’t they? Hehehehe…

To that friend of mine, I hope you get fantabolous grades for this assignment of yours because I think you have talent. But do take care not to cut yourself anymore in the future ok?

p/s: I’m always glad to help anyone who needs my pics, as long as they are not for commercial purposes (as stated by my copyright here) and credit is given when due. Just ask me and I’m sure I’ll be glad to let you feature them in your assignments, blogs or books.

It’s been that long?

3 May, 2008 at 9:39 am (Funny pics, Uni pics) (, , , , , , , , , )

Yeah yeah I know I haven’t updated in about a month (which feels like a decade in cyber space) but can you blame me? These past few weeks had been one hell of an endless barrage of deadlines and academic assaults on my poor mind; starting with a kick in the crotch from overdue assignments, followed up with a nice head chop from FYP, and ending perfectly with some deep anal fisting from Final Exams. Speaking of which, finals haven’t actually ended, yet. Damn.

By the way, just for the excuse of dusting off the dirt from my wordpress/photobucket dashboards, I’m gonna show you some pics that are guaranteed to stoke that inner pervasive fantasy of yours my dear readers. Oh don’t you deny it, from my console I can pretty much see that half of my visitors arrived here searching for animal porn eh? AND PUT THAT KY JELLY DOWN! Hahaha!

So, the story goes like this… I followed a friend’s car out to dinner (or was it lunch? I dunno cause I don’t care as long as there’s food). As soon as I step into his car, I was immediately hit with the overpowering smell of sweet animal lust. But couldn’t be what? He doesn’t have any pets in his car, so where did that smell come from?

I searched high and low, hoping to get a glimpse of those darn copulating animals but they were no where to be found. That is until some dark aura lured my wandering vision to the dashboard. The dashboard! Of cause… how can I be so blur to ignore the vibe coming from there? So here I present you, pics of debaucheries on the dashboard:

.

Ok, here comes the clincher – since Sylvester (the one on top) is a cat and the receiver at the bottom is a koala (I assume) can this still be considered doggy style? Hahaha!

.

.

THE TAIL! Check out the tail! Mua ha ha ha ha!

p/s: No animals (stuffed or otherwise) were harmed during the photo shoot.

Have you ever hear the saying – every cloud has a silver lining? I used to think that was crap, probably something an old drunk geezer would pull out of his ass after one too many Johnie Walker. That is until I saw it with my own eyes:

.

Can you see it?

p/p/s: A special shout out to a medical student/ future doctor. Oi kawan! Hehe…

Aurora in the skies.

3 April, 2008 at 10:55 am (Scenery, Uni pics) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

Been a while since I’ve posted any front page-worthy photos, so here goes:

You know, I’ve always been fascinated with auroras, basically a light phenomena that happens at night time in certain places around the world like Alaska, North Pole, South Pole and some parts of Australia too I believe. Though we don’t actually get to see these amazing natural performances here in the equator belt or specifically in Sarawak, nonetheless I’ve captured some photos that I think would best resemble auroras, here in the land of the hornbills.

The ‘aurora’ effects here were created from a mixture of cloud formations and lights bouncing off them from sunset. There’s also that spectacular contrast between the red/purplish colors of the cloud and the blue skies. (Photo made with panorama effect)

.

Try and detect a special feature in this photo. Hint: look at the corner left side.

Yeap, there’s a rainbow there. Can you see it? This alone magnified the aurora-like effect by several folds. Ok, maybe not aurora-like but still amazing though.

For a normal view outside my window, click here and here please.

.

Another angle, now can you see the rainbow splitting the photo? And the clouds man… they are amazing. I mean they almost don’t look like clouds at all. More like it’s raining Ribena/orange juice or something haha.

.

Evidently, apart from the abundance of beautiful hot babes, Sarawak also has beautiful skies as well.

Some of the funny stuffs I stumbled upon from TheOnion (I know, I’m addicted to it!).

I wouldn’t mind having this shirt. Hehahaha!

.

And while looking for safe box pictures for this post, look what I found:

It was supposed to be a picture for the promotion of safe sex but some people just have to spoil the fun by being way too literal. I mean this is literally SAFE SEX!
